First Year Student Success Librarian

.92FTE academic staff position (full-time from August 1 to June 30). Reporting to the Head of Research Services, this position develops and provides library services that support teaching, research, and student success and retention. General responsibilities include: providing library orientation and information literacy instruction to first year student-oriented classes and groups; promoting first-year and transfer student success and retention through collaboration with campus academic and student services programs and offices; serving as a liaison to designated academic departments; providing in-person and online research assistance; overseeing collection development for assigned subject areas; and collaborating with the Head of Research Services and other library colleagues to plan and implement new services to meet the changing needs and expectations of our users.
Qualifications required: American Library Association-accredited master’s degree completed by August 31, 2017; familiarity with a wide variety of academic reference sources; familiarity with the concepts of information literacy; knowledge of emerging technologies in libraries and how they impact the needs and expectations of library users; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Preferred: Library reference experience; library instruction experience.
