Are you watching The Roosevelts on PBS? Did you know that Eleanor Roosevelt was the first speaker in the then-brand new Karges Center in 1960? The April 11, 1960, Student Voice announced:

New Athletic Building Will Be Scene of Speech by Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt will speak at Wisconsin State College at River Falls Tuesday, May 3, at 8 p.m. in the Health and Physical Education building. The wife of Pres. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and niece of Pres. Theodore Roosevelt, her appearance will be co-sponsored by the college and the River Falls chapter of the American Association of University Women. The title of her speech will be “Is America Facing World Leadership?”
