New York Times News

The New York Daily Times, the precursor to the New York Times newspaper, published its first issue on this date 162 years ago on September 18, 1851.  Did you know that the library provides online access to all the issues of the New York Times from 1851 to 2009 in the New York Times Historical database?  This historical newspaper provides genealogists, researchers and scholars with online, easily-searchable first-hand accounts and unparalleled coverage of the politics, society and events of the time.

Reception for Meseret Reta

Please join us in the Chalmer Davee Library’s upper level breezeway on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., for a reception in honor of UWRF Journalism Professor Meseret Reta and the posthumous publication of his book, “The Quest for Press Freedom: One Hundred Years of History of the Media in Ethiopia.” Reta was an adjunct professor in the Department of Journalism for seven years.

Year of Germany – 3D Puzzle

The Year of Germany is upon us!  To help you get in the mood, stop by the library and help up construct a 3D puzzle of the medieval village of Rothenburg.  The puzzle table is located near the front staircase on the main level.  Viel Spaß!  (Have fun!)
