NEW! Search@UW Research Tool

Search through thousands of journals, magazines and newspapers using the beta version of Search@UW on the library’s homepage at http://www.uwrf.edu/library.  Select the “For best results, sign in” option to take advantage of additional features, such as the ability to mark and save your search results to your own e-Shelf. Later this spring Search@UW will expand to include a collection of millions of books, e-books, DVDs, streaming videos, digital images, and more. Welcome Tammy!

Tammy Stifter has accepted the permanent Library Services Assistant-Advanced position in Serials.  Tammy, who graduated Moorhead State University with a B.S. in instrumental Music Education and has been working as an LTE in the library for several months, officially begins her new position on January 28.

Tammy Stifter, originally from Williston, ND, has been married to Mike Stifter, of UWRF Facilities Management, for 20 years this July.  The couple has two daughters; Emily, 14 and Nan, 12, as well as a beagle/basset named Grace and a Lhasa apso named Teddy.

For past 12 years, Tammy stayed home with their girls and owned/operated a certified childcare out of her family’s home.  Tammy, a self-admitted library junkie, dabbles in knitting and is about to start her second semester as a graduate student in the UW Madison Part-Time Masters of Social Work program.  Welcome to the library staff, Tammy!

Records Management Basics Classes in the Archives

Records Management Basics will cover the laws, regulations, and policies covering “public” records in Wisconsin; the life cycle of records from creation to use, storage and final disposition; state, UW System, and local records retention schedules; and the proper, and legal, destruction of records.  This workshop is open to UWRF faculty and staff only, and will be offered Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 3-4 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 31 from 9-10 a.m. in Room 331 (upper level computer lab).   For more info please contact Kathryn Otto at 715-425-3567.

CRSCA Submissions Now Being Accepted

Submissions for this year’s Celebration of Research, Scholarship and Creative Achievement (CRSCA), an annual event that honors the intellectual and creative activities of UW-River Falls’ faculty and staff, are currently being accepted.  All faculty and staff who have authored books and journal articles; presented academic posters and papers; created fine and performance art; music; funded grants and other items that were published, presented or funded in 2012, are encouraged to participate.

Special exhibits throughout the library will showcase submissions, and a citation booklet will be published recognizing the contributions of all CRSCA honorees.  An all-campus reception will take place Tuesday, March 12 at 3:30 in the library atrium.

Citation information must be submitted by Friday, February 15 to be included in the Celebration booklet.  The actual materials (books, journal articles, posters, artwork, etc.) must be delivered to the library (to Rm. 271 or items can be left at the front desk) by Friday, March 1 to be included in the exhibits.
